A lot of our dear readers have posed questions on How To Start Workout In Gym. Now, a person who has never been to gym finds it difficult to start. Once you start, you will enjoy working out in gym.

There are certain prerequisites to start working out in gym –

  • Buy sports shoes that fit well. If you are planning to do cardio, please get your feet on running shoes !  Please avoid wearing ballerinas or any flat slippers.
  • Wear appropriate exercise clothing. Sweat absorbing fabrics are always your best buddy ! Please wear cotton tees if you don’t own proper gym tees. Girls, please wear supportive sports bras.
  • Get hold of a water bottle or sipper to keep you hydrated.
  • Use knee or elbow pads or hand gloves if required.
  • Avoid wearing jewellery and please no makeup 😉
  • Carry a hand towel in the gym and a deodorant too 😛

  • Please do your BMI and body measurements on the first day in the Gym.
  • The world is not ending today ! Please don’t workout hard. When you are not working out regularly or have never done it before, your muscles are not used to such level of activity. Do light workout preferably cardio for the first time.
  • Seek help of trainers if you don’t know how to use a machine. There is nothing to shy or to be ashamed of ! A newbie always gets a lot of attention 😉
  • If you get tired soon, please don’t push yourself hard. Don’t be disheartened. It is expected to happen on the first day.
  • Every day, increase the intensity or time of a particular exercise a bit. You will find that you are able to do a little more every time !
  • After first week, please ask your trainer to give you a workout chart. Follow it religiously.
  • If there are no trainers around, seek help of people around you. Generally, people in the gym are friendly
  • If you feel dizzy, please stop and have water. If you recover, get back to your regime else call it a day !
  • Please stretch pre and post workout.
